Sunday School Notes and Comments

Teaching the Commandments to the young is a rewarding experience. Children start in Sunday school eager for the truth, and there they are taught the Ten Commandments, ten rules which are simple, fundamental, practical.

It is necessary, in teaching the Commandments, to present both the letter and their clear, spiritual meaning. And those pupils who leave Sunday school with an understanding of the spiritual meaning of the Commandments, and a workable knowledge of them as ten definite rules of conduct, have a valuable equipment for facing the problems of adult experience.

The Commandments are so vital and timeless that they are as applicable to modern living as they were to the problems of the children of Israel. The tenth commandment, reviewed in a class of older girls, uncovered what appeared to be a prevalent tendency to covet fine clothes and automobiles. A helpful lesson was taught in the distinction between coveting matter and expressing spiritual beauty, harmony, and abundance of good.
