Because Christian Science has blessed me abundantly...
Because Christian Science has blessed me abundantly during the greater part of my life, I wish to give written expression to my gratitude for those blessings. Christian Science first came into my experience when it was brought to the attention of my mother shortly after she had been left a widow with two small children to support. From the first we recognized that Christian Science offered comfort and help, and we began to attend the services which were conducted by the small society in the town where we then lived. We children also entered the Sunday school and began to learn how to apply the truth to our daily affairs.
I have received many benefits from my own study of Christian Science. It was of great value to me through the greater part of my school life, on into the business world, and in more recent years in my own home and with my own children. When I have correctly and faithfully applied its teachings, they have not failed me once, through all these years. As a result I have come to have the consciousness of God's presence and the certainty of His care, which are priceless blessings. I have experienced many healings, sometimes through my own work and sometimes with the help of a practitioner. Some of these healings have come quickly; others more slowly, but they have always brought needed lessons. By relying upon Christian Science alone I have been healed of an attack of appendicitis, of influenza, of a tendency to have severe colds, of a sense of exhaustion verging on a nervous breakdown, and of frequent and severe headaches. The last-mentioned healing came about gradually without any specific treatment, but through the understanding gained while I was attending a Christian Science Sunday School. Through my own study, and with the loving help of a practitioner, I had no pain at the birth of my children.
Christian Science is continuing to help me overcome undesirable traits of character. The sorrow and suffering which come from an ungovernable temper have disappeared from my life in proportion to my growth in the understanding that divine Mind alone governs man. Christian Science has brought peace and joy into our home, and it is a constant guide in caring for our children. Whenever sickness has presented itself to the children, it has been quickly overcome through the application of the truth. I am grateful to have been able to attend a Christian Science Sunday School for a number of years and am deeply grateful that our children now have the same privilege. Membership in The Mother Church and active work in a branch church have brought me much happiness. I am glad to be learning that real gratitude can only be expressed in consecrated living.—(Mrs.) Gwendolen Garsed Morison, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
