The Lecturer Prays

Father, in this dear hour of selflessness
Take Thou my utterance wholly unto Thee,
To speak as one who follows him who spake
As never mortal spake; that not alone
Shall he who comes in prayer, rewarded go,
But even more that he who comes to bind
Shall cast away the chains, and witness bear;
That those who sit in darkness may discern
The open door of Mind, where all who will
May freedom find if they but go that way.
Oh, in this sacred hour make so clear
The one idea, perfect and divine,
That, in the glow of intuition rare,
The proud grow humble, mockers fail to mock,
They who deride forget the things they said,
Those snared in sin discountenance their plot,
And all the faithful waiting ones behold
Captivity itself led captive here.
