God-bestowed Riches

The one whose consciousness is governed by divine Mind has an abundance of spiritual wealth beyond anything which material sense can conceive. He possesses health, life, limitless opportunity. Beauty and loveliness are his, transcending any human concept. These possessions are spiritual. They unfold as he seeks, through obedience, humility, and prayer, to understand God. He comes thus to realize that God gives continuously and abundantly of spiritual treasures. Nothing is too precious to give to His beloved children.

There could not be a limit to the spiritual power, the joy, purity, and health, which God is continually imparting. In this consciousness of true substance there can be no place for greed, acquisitiveness, or pride. Spiritual wealth is everyone's to possess; and the more it is used and shared, the more it increases. It enriches every particular of his experience, including supply for temporal needs. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 307), "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies." She adds, "What a glorious inheritance is given to us through the understanding of omnipresent Love!"

A Christian Scientist who was possessed of only moderate means used to exclaim every morning, "I am rich today!" One had only to look at her radiant face to know that she was not thinking of material wealth. She possessed the "pearl of great price," the understanding that true possessions are spiritual, eternal, inexhaustible. Because of this understanding, she knew that she was equipped with wisdom to solve whatever problem might present itself; she felt the continuous power and presence of Love strengthening her; she confidently expected her day to be filled with harmony and joyous activity.
