My debt of gratitude to Christian Science is so great that I wish to share some of the fruits of healing which I have experienced. Twenty years ago doctors called my condition pernicious anemia, and urged me to eat wholesome food, stay out of doors, and take much exercise. These directions, faithfully followed, failed to strengthen or build me up, because my need was not material, but spiritual.

About this time I started the study of Christian Science. So great was my hunger for Truth that I read day and night, carried about with me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, read it on streetcars, at recess (I was teaching at the time), and at noon while eating my lunch. I poured the life-giving truth into my thought, which had been darkened by material beliefs, and, by clinging steadfastly to the gleam of Truth which had unfolded during my study, I was shown the way out of the darkness.

Later the realization came that enabled me to avail myself of a positive spiritual law. Our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
