The most important thing to me is the light which Christian Science brings to bear upon the reality of Life as God. The various statements in the Christian Science textbook concerning Life all point to the fact that Life is God, divine Mind, the universal cause and creator—the one infinite, eternal Mind, governing all its creations in complete harmony.
Some faint realization of the omnipotence of God freed me from what appeared to be a mastoid abscess, which vanished after a few days. During this time help was given me by an earnest student of Christian Science, who recommended the study of the answer to the question, "What is Mind?" in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 469). The first part of the answer reads: "Mind is God. The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality."
The mesmeric belief of unemployment was also broken on one occasion, when my employers, through a change of policy, decided to close the branch of which I was in charge. No other vacancy or position seemed available at that time, so a Christian Science practitioner was asked to help me. Some thought of the continuous activity of Spirit, God, expressed through man, as God's representative, was given me by the one who was helping me. I was also shown the necessity of demonstrating activity by looking for opportunities to be of service. I did this, without thought of remuneration, feeling the joy of serving my brother man in any way that presented itself. The result was that a position in my usual vocation came from an unexpected quarter. Although, at the time, I was very reluctant to leave the district where my home had been made, obedience to God's directing has brought enlarged opportunities for spiritual progress.
