Among the Churches

Exeter, Nebraska (Society).—An extensive improvement program, started six months ago by Christian Science Society, Exeter, is completed, and dedicatory services were held on Sunday, December 10, 1939, in the morning and afternoon, to which the public was cordially invited.

Christian Science Society of Exeter was organized in August, 1897, according to the Rules and By-Laws of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. For about ten years after that, meetings were held in rooms above what is now known as First National Bank.

As the church membership continued to grow and progress, they began to cherish the desire for a church home of their own, with the result that a lot was purchased, plans were drawn, submitted, and accepted, and on June 19, 1907, work was begun on this church edifice. As soon as part of the building was ready for occupancy, they moved in, holding their services in the finished part, completing the remainder as they could.—Fillmore County News.
