Penarth Times

In a recent issue there are references to a gentleman who associated himself with Christian Science, and is described as a Christian Science missionary. I would thank you for space to correct this implication, as it is misleading to your numerous readers, many of whom are Christian Scientists.

Christian Science does not include in its organization missionaries or emissaries, and under no circumstances are the teachings of Christian Science associated with telepathy.

On page 95 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are these words: "The greater or lesser ability of a Christian Scientist to discern thought scientifically, depends upon his genuine spirituality. This kind of mind-reading is not clairvoyance, but it is important to success in healing, and is one of the special characteristics thereof." Christian Scientists understand Mind to be God, and this understanding eliminates the belief that the human mind can influence or be influenced by other so-called minds opposed to the one divine Mind. Paul says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."
