Loving One's Neighbor as Oneself

At this period of the world's history, when everything seems to be in a state of uncertainty and unrest, it is comforting to remember Jesus' words, "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, ... for your redemption draweth nigh."

There are today many difficult and trying experiences to be faced, and it takes much right thinking to meet them with equanimity. To accept these conditions with resentment will never meet the problems. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 574), "The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares." This is what occurs very often. In many cases, rightly meeting the conditions has brought out a great deal of unselfed love, which always brings with it a blessing.

Many, in certain countries affected by war conditions, who have had to care for little ones temporarily placed under their charge, have learned to love their spontaneous trust, joy, and affection. In many instances, however, wrong conditions have been present, and difficulties have been encountered in consequence. It is well in such circumstances to remember that the law of God, when properly applied, will adjust all conditions harmoniously, thus blessing all concerned.
