Basler Nachrichten
In a report of a recent lecture, mesmerism, Christian Science, and quacks were classed together indiscriminately. Christian Science has nothing whatever to do with mesmerism and quackery. Christian Scientists do not diagnose cases medically, nor make use of material means for healing, nor employ human will-power to control a patient, as the mesmerist does. Christian Science teaches that divine Mind alone heals, and that the admonition of the Apostle Paul must be observed: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." The practice of the teachings of Christ Jesus deserves greater attention and esteem in our time, for they are able to save mankind from its misery. It was Christ Jesus himself who said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do."
