"Every one's bands were loosed"

IT is recorded in Matthew that on a certain occasion Jesus was followed by great multitudes, and that "he healed them all." With what reverence and gratitude may we contemplate his marvelous works; and what a source of joy it is that he left for our guidance and encouragement his rich promise, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also"!

One who is endeavoring to prove the teachings of Christian Science has accepted the obligation to keep himself "unspotted from the world," so that he may be ready at all times to declare the truth needed to unclasp the fetters of those who seek his help. One who is gaining and maintaining this state of spiritual thought is abiding "in the secret place of the most High," and equipping himself to destroy the false claims of evil, whatever their pretense may be.

A Christian Scientist was once asked to help another. After much earnest effort in his behalf the condition remained unchanged. Looking away from the material situation, the student eagerly turned to God for a clearer sense of His allness. After a period of such communion, a higher and fuller realization of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God was gained. The spiritual conviction came that the individual was freed. The worker sat silently praising God for His great goodness, realizing that His love and power enfold all His children. Immediately also the bonds of a loved one who had been wrestling with error were severed. The experience recalled one related in the Bible of Paul and Silas, who while in prison, and with their feet fast in the stocks, at midnight prayed and sang praises to God. Not only were they freed, but we are told that "every one's bands were loosed." So may every worker in Christian Science keep before him the fact that God's work is done, and thus witness the good that is made manifest as God's all-power and presence are clearly realized.
