The Kingdom of Heaven

The world is seeking the solution of its problems, and striving to overcome the innumerable difficulties which beset the path of mortals. Everyone, no matter what his race or rank, is seeking and striving after happiness, but many make the great mistake of expecting to find it in material things or conditions.

Some people travel round the world in search of health. Others strive to gain riches or fame, or whatever is in accordance with their particular concept of happiness, but do not find it. Others, again, attempt to alter, adjust, and improve material conditions by human plans and man-made laws; but, no matter how advanced and up-to-date these methods are, they are powerless to establish permanent spiritual concord. Why? Because, as Mrs. Eddy writes on page 242 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way."

More than nineteen hundred years ago Jesus, our Way-shower, gave the prescript for the solving of all the problems of mankind, when he admonished, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Then he gave this enlightening reply to the Pharisees who questioned him: "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." With these words Jesus swept aside all false creeds and human theories regarding heaven, and definitely stated that the kingdom of God is within spiritual thinking—within our consciousness—here and now.
