For many years after becoming interested in Christian Science, I experienced protection from sickness, accidents, and misfortune. But as my desire for further spiritual growth and understanding has increased, the problems which have presented themselves have impelled me to prove what I have learned of Truth.

One experience was a fall, in which I struck my head on a cement step, and came down with force on my elbow. For several days I attended to necessary duties, but the arm became so swollen and discolored that at the request of my husband I agreed to have an X-ray examination. In the meanwhile I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help.

The X ray showed a broken bone, with a piece chipped off. The surgeon said the bones were so far apart that they could not knit unless they were wired together. I told him that I could not consent to this. A later X ray showed that the bones were joined, and the piece which had been broken off was back in its natural place. I now have the normal use of my arm, and no evidence that anything has ever happened to it. I am grateful for this positive demonstration of mental surgery, and for the clear understanding of the practitioner, which lifted my thought above the evidence of the senses. In all I had three treatments.
