About seven years ago I started attending services at a Christian Science church. I was looking for a religion that could be practiced every day. At the services I heard the announcement of a lending library, and I started to borrow the authorized Christian Science literature. I shall always be grateful to the librarian for her tender, loving guidance, which was so helpful to one knowing nothing at all of Christian Science.

When my first child was coming, I was still so young in Science I did not know whether to go to a hospital or to have the baby at home. I visited a member of the church who had had two children under Christian Science treatment, and was so impressed when I heard of her experience that I decided to remain at home. We were living in a hotel, however, and it did not seem the right place for me. I wished to have a sunny home for the child, and the practitioner who was helping me brought to my attention the words of one of our hymns, "And for you make radiant room" (Poems by Mrs. Eddy, p. 75). I am happy to say that a very suitable apartment was found.

At this time I resigned from a very lucrative position. My husband had recently opened his own office, and the laws of mortal mind decreed that any member of his profession would have a slow, hard struggle. I knew, however, that the child would be provided with everything needful for its maintenance and care. On the very day that the little girl was born a sum of money was received from an unexpected source, sufficient to cover our needs. The birth of the child was harmonious and normal in every way.
