I came into Science about five years ago
I came into Science about five years ago. Since then I have had many blessings and infallible proofs of what Christian Science can do for those who study it diligently and apply it prayerfully in daily life.
When I arrived in England from Canada with my family, three years ago, I found myself very soon in trouble. Expected employment did not materialize, and my efforts to find some way of getting a position brought no results. Continuous worry created inharmonious conditions at home, and my health became so bad that I was hardly able to go out at all. Insomnia, constipation, indigestion, pains in my back and legs, palpitations, and bad headaches made my life very unpleasant, and although I studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and visited the Christian Science Reading Rooms and churches quite frequently, neither the physical nor the financial conditions improved.
One day I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner in Canada, who had lovingly directed my first footsteps in the study of Science, and asked her to help me to overcome the belief in lack and limitation. She consented to help me, and told me to stop worrying, and not to rely on any person or personal influence, but to rely unreservedly on God. She reminded me of Mrs. Eddy's words, "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 307). A few days after I received her letter things began to improve. And shortly afterwards I had three offers of suitable positions.
