Overcoming the Adversary

IN the book of Job we read that there was "a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them." Satan, or devil, is spoken of in the Scriptures as an adversary, a liar, something that would contradict or condemn God's perfect creation.

How could Satan, evil, be found in the presence of God, good? How could hatred and condemnation be present before divine Love? In Christian Science we learn that evil does not exist in the infinitude of God; that it is an illusion, a mesmeric dream. From this dream all must sooner or later awaken to acknowledge, God, and man, His glorious manifestation, perfect, complete, spiritual, in His image and likeness.

Christian Science shows us the paramount necessity of being alert and watchful, constantly using our spiritual understanding, in order that we may discern the subtle temptations and occusations of the adversary.
