Teach Me to Love

Teach me to love, dear Father-Mother, God,
To lose all thought of self in serving Thee,
Above the clouds of sorrow, sense, or sin
With vision pure Thy perfect child to see.

Teach me to love, dear Father-Mother, God,
My daily course with gentleness to trace,
That weary hearts who pass me on my way
May catch a glimpse of Thy reflected grace.

Teach me to love, dear Father-Mother, God,
Expressing all Thy radiancy of life,
That I in quiet confidence may go
With healing ministry that stills all strife.

Teach me to serve, dear Father-Mother, God,
To bless alone, and all my life to prove
A faithful, patient witness to the truth,
O Father-Mother, God, teach me to love.
