It is with a heart overflowing with joy that I write this...
It is with a heart overflowing with joy that I write this testimony of sincere gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mary Baker Eddy, for the great love that has been revealed to me through the study of Christian Science. I did not begin to study this Science for physical healing, but was searching for a better understanding of God. However, Christian Science has brought me many beautiful experiences and wonderful healings, and I am truly grateful for an enlightened spiritual understanding of God.
On one occasion I found myself faced with a very heavy task, which appeared to be beyond my strength. Knowing that I alone must do the necessary work, I turned my thoughts to God for help, and found myself repeating, "The Lord is the strength of my life." As I carried on with my work I wondered how best I could express strength. The next moment found me seeking what our Leader has written in her works on strength and power. On page 453 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I found: "Honesty is spiritual power. Dishonesty is human weakness, which forfeits divine help." I pondered these words as I went on with my task. I had taken my stand for honesty, and I saw clearly that if I reflected honesty in thought, word, and action, I should express true power and strength, which are of God. With these thoughts still filling my consciousness, I found my work finished, and felt stronger than before I had commenced.
On another occasion I had a severe attack of shingles, when we were staying in a town where there was no Christian Science church. At first I tried to overcome the difficulty, but at the end of two days I telephoned to a practitioner, fifty miles away. From the moment of speaking to her on the telephone I had a lovely sense of ease, and within three days there was not a sign left of the error—I absolutely free.
