Guidance

Lost in the wild was I.
And it was night—
Cold, dark. There was no moon,
Nor were there stars to light the sky.
Sad was my plight.

I thought, "I must turn back."
But then Truth cried,
"Stand where thou art, my child!
Be not afraid!
What dost thou lack?
I am thy guide."

Obediently I stood,
Waiting to hear
Truth's voice again—the next command,
Knowing no other power but good;
Knowing no fear.

And, as I waited there
For light of day,
Suddenly all was bright;
The morning sun burst forth so fair;
I found my way.
