Among the Churches

Monterey Peninsula Herald

Current Notes

Monterey, California (First Church).—On November 21, 1937, two well-attended dedicatory services were held by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Monterey, in its edifice at Herman Drive and Madison Street. With the opening of the doors to the public the structure was free of debt.

This church began to hold services in 1923. It was at that time composed of a group of interested students, who met in private homes. Later, the group organized as Christian Science Society, Monterey, and was duly recognized by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 18 of the same year.
