The Christian Science Practitioner

The streams that flow beneath the ground,
All hidden from our sight,
May never creep through earth or rock
To come up to the light.

Yet still their work, unseen, is felt
By grass and trees above;
The verdure and the foliage show
Their hidden task of love.

We joy with friends restored to health,
But do we always know
The hours of prayer and faithful work
Practitioners bestow?

We may not see the hidden stream,
We may not hear the voice;
Yet the result of each one's work
Is known, and we rejoice.

God bless those standing steadfastly,
With earnest prayer and thought,
Through whose communion with our God,
These mighty works are wrought.
