"And as ye go, preach"

Oh, not by words of eloquence
With human wisdom charged—
In simple goodness be the Word
Unfolded and enlarged.

In loving-kindness show it forth
Where world-worn eyes behold;
In secret bounty let there be
The precious story told.

The light of Truth to places dark
With tales of mortal grief,
Shall bring its holy ministry
With healing and relief.

Through understanding tenderness
Love's message may ye speak,
With strength for him who strives and falls
With flagging hope and weak.

And as ye go, beloved, preach
In deeds of selflessness:
Reveal the ageless works of Christ
To purify and bless.
