Peace, doubting heart!
Trust on and falter not;
God's loving care forever holds thee dear.
His perfect image cannot fail or fall;
Safe in this knowledge, what have we to fear?

Peace, doubting heart!
The winds of earth may blow,
The chilling fears of mortal thought surprise.
Beneath His sheltering wing we safely lie,
And in His wisdom we are truly wise.

Peace, doubting heart!
For every bitter woe
But teaches to relinquish error's claim,
Tear from the breast false trusts and fleeting joys,
And dwell within the surety of His name.
