With a joyful and grateful heart I should like to tell of the great blessings which I have experienced through Christian Science.

I found the way to this Science after I had been suffering for five years. Because of tuberculosis of the lungs I had spent a year and a half in a sanatorium. For five years a bad case of pleurisy had forced me to stay in bed for weeks and months each year. In addition, there were stomach and digestive difficulties, which had not been removed, in spite of an operation on the stomach and appendix and the most careful dieting. Any improvement was always temporary, and I remained so weak that for two years after the operation I still had to stay in bed for six or seven hours each day.

When I was first told of Christian Science, its adherents were pictured to me as confederates of Satan, for only thus were their great successes to be explained. This seemed impossible to me and caused me to get some Christian Science literature for myself. In reading the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, I recognized with great joy that I had found the truth. I soon had an opportunity to study this teaching more thoroughly. Its glory and greatness became so clear to me, and so filled my thinking, that I quite forgot I had sought healing; I had only a most ardent desire to learn more of the truth. In two or three weeks all my sufferings, together with fear, had vanished.
