Today
The
day the Lord hath made is here. Awake!
Arise! accept the gifts with it bestowed,
And joyfully go forth upon thy road
Of high endeavor; valiant, thy way take.
Today the trivial, selfish thoughts forsake,
That the bright hours may in diviner code
A purer message bring, in heavenly mode
Fashion each thought and deed for Love's sweet sake.
Yet fairer gifts await tomorrow's sun,
As in our thought Love's presence glows more bright,
Unsealing our blind eyes—a holy sign!
If we today the heavenly course have run,
We glimpse that dawn which never knoweth night,
The infinite today of Truth divine.
