For the past eleven years Christian Science has met my every need. Though I did not come to Science for healing, I was impressed with its wonderful teachings. Soon after taking up its study I was healed of blood poisoning in my fingers. This seemed very wonderful to me, because I had witnessed a similar condition which a brother of mine had bad treated in materia medica. He had spent several days applying one kind of poison to counteract another. In my experience I learned that "the way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 201). The healing was very quickly accomplished with the help of a practitioner.
In my position of teaching music in a public school, it was necessary that I use my voice a great deal. A few years ago, shortly after transferring to a different school, I seemingly lost my voice. I was not able to sing at all and had much difficulty in speaking. This condition lasted for about ten days, until it was uncovered, through work done in Christian Science, that error was trying to stop my work and displace me. When this was learned and work taken up, my voice returned to its normal condition within twenty-four hours.
Three years ago I had an instantaneous healing of influenza. On the day my husband returned to work, after recovering from this disease, I came home from school manifesting all the symptoms and hardly able to drag myself into bed. That evening my school was giving a paid performance of a children's operetta. I had full charge of directing the singing and was to play all the accompaniments. The practitioner was called about four-thirty in the afternoon, and at seven o'clock that evening I was at my school and performing my duties. The following morning I went to school as usual without an ache or pain. All the healings mentioned were brought about without my losing one day of school. For this I am indeed grateful.
