A heart full of gratitude and joyful appreciation for...
A heart full of gratitude and joyful appreciation for being led to Christian Science prompts me to tell of some of the good I have received from its study and application.
Years ago one in ill health and under the care of physicians, upon being told that no more could be done for her, turned to Christian Science and there found the Great Physician. I am very grateful for this, as some years afterward a relative became interested and helped me to see my need of it. At that time I was suffering from what several physicians termed thyroid goiter, with constant headache, nervousness, and weakness, and was able to eat or sleep but little. Although I knew nothing of Christian Science and did not see how it could help me, I began to study and have help from a practitioner. As there was much to be learned in trust, patience, gratitude, and joy, the healing seemed slow, but I needed to learn these lessons and let the truth into my consciousness. When one has been lifted from the dread of another day of pain and suffering into the understanding that "this is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it," there is much cause for gratitude for the healing. Through this I have gained much strength, ability, love, and joy. I have also been healed of mumps, a sprained ankle, and colds.
While I appreciate my early religious training by dear parents, Christian Science has increased my hope and faith in God and is teaching me to rely on Him for health and happiness. It is giving me an understanding of Him and of my true self. Words fail to express the gratitude I feel for the good I receive through the daily study of the Bible together with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, for the help this is when applied to our daily experiences, for church membership, the church activities, and the literature. My desire is to know more of this truth and help others to know of it, that they may be benefited and blessed as I have been.
