"The world has need of you"

[Written Especially for Young People]

"Beloved children, the world has need of you,—and more as children than as men and women: it needs your innocence, unselfishness, faithful affection, uncontaminated lives." These words of Mrs. Eddy, found on page 110 of "Miscellaneous Writings," hold great inspiration and strength for all Christian Scientists, including those young students who find themselves standing on the threshold of the business or professional world.

A young student of Christian Science once found herself unexpectedly in need of a position. The problem, she felt, must be solved quickly. She clung persistently to the things which she knew to be true: that God's man is never unemployed; that "Science reveals the glorious possibilities of immortal man, forever unlimited by the mortal senses," as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 288). She began each day by counting over the things God had given her to express—joy, loving service, clear thinking, alertness, obedience—the list of good had no end. She knew that each of these spiritual qualities was needed, that she could express them, and that she must expect good. These lines from a well-loved hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal came to her thought:
