The Infinity of God

[Original article in German]

Infinity! What depth, magnitude, abundance, and glory it encompasses! Infinity has no beginning, no end. It has no bounds, no opposing forces—only limitless, universal dominion. And this infinity is God. Mrs. Eddy defines "Almighty" on page 581 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" thus: "All-power; infinity; omnipotence." Since God is infinity, His love, His power, goodness, and wisdom are infinite.

The Biblical records furnish us with wonderful proofs of God's infinitude, of ever-present divine Love, of the Father's protecting omnipotence, everywhere present. If we accept these proofs, any doubt as to Love's ability to dispel distress, sorrow, danger, sickness, sin, and death will disappear from our thought.

In spite of his apparent superiority, Pharaoh with all his "horses and chariots ... and his horsemen, and his army" could not balk the departure of the Israelites from Egypt, because God was leading them; and they "went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground." Wherever God, infinite Love, is understood, the utter impotence of so-called human strength, claiming to rival divine omnipotence, is shown, and the helplessness of humanly conceived ways and means is uncovered.
