On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy tells us that "action expresses more gratitude than speech." This testimony is lovingly given, because I desire to be actively grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me.

During my experience as organist in the various orthodox churches I attended, I lost all interest in the type of religion I met. I finally resigned and stopped attending church altogether. But I was unhappy. It was not pleasant to remain at home while the children went to a Sunday school. I was seeking a solution for this problem when Christian Science was presented to me. As I read the chapter on Prayer in Science and Health, I realized that this was the religion I wanted, for it taught me that all our needs are supplied by God. Since that year of 1928, my greatest joy and satisfaction have come from attending Christian Science services, and serving this Cause as a member of The Mother Church and of a Christian Science Society. The children also have enjoyed the Sunday school, and we are together now in our desire to know more about God and our relationship to Him. Our needs are supplied.

One day, as I was pushing my car my coat became entangled in the front wheels and I was drawn beneath the wheels in such a way that my body held back the entire weight of the car. I felt no fear and was liberated in a few seconds. The skin on one kneecap was broken and my coat torn beyond repair, but no inconvenience was suffered. A practitioner who was with me lovingly ministered to my needs, and I was able to drive the car home. I am grateful for this experience, for it taught me that God, Truth, is more powerful than any material circumstance.
