The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Kansas City, Missouri (Seventh Church).

Lecturer: Richard J. Davis; introduced by Albert Espey, who said:—

At a time when the material universe is emerging from a mesmeric dream-sense of failure, anxiety, indecision, confusion, doubt, and fear, what could be more timely than a Christian Science lecture?

It is related in the fourteenth chapter of the Gospel of St. John that our dear Master, Christ Jesus, towards the close of his earthly ministry, left us these very comforting words: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." This peace is ours to enjoy this very moment. And no inharmonious condition of any kind is capable of depriving us of a full realization of the omnipresence of this peace, or of the healing benefit we are to receive from the lecture. We are in the very presence of our heavenly Father, divine Love, where nothing, no thing, can possibly enter "that defileth, ... or maketh a lie."
