About three years ago I became ill with gallstones and stones in the kidneys. In addition I had a severe case of phlebitis and jaundice. The pain was unbearable and almost overwhelmed me. I asked for Christian Science treatment, but for the moment I had no relief. By my family's wish a doctor was consulted. After a rather lengthy examination he stated that if any help was at all possible, only an operation could give it. As my heart was believed to be endangered, I had an injection. In my despair I clung even more firmly to God, and knew that He alone could help me and indeed would help me. My trust was rewarded, for just at the moment when I needed Christian Science help most, God sent me some good friends who were able to inform the practitioner. She came immediately and remained with me the whole morning and worked for me. It was a hard struggle between Truth and error. The kind practitioner strengthened me with the words: "Right there where pain seems to be, perfect Life holds sway. There where pain seems to be severe, God alone is powerful." And the truth worked like a miracle. I went to sleep, not after the injection but after the treatment, and when I woke up, I was as if newborn.
As I had eaten nothing solid for several weeks, I now felt hungry, and was able to eat a very hearty meal, without having the slightest trouble after it.
In deep reverence I bow before God's omnipotence, and I should like to express my gratitude by endeavoring to walk in God's paths and in striving to come nearer to Him.
