Christian Science came to me when I was looking for a logical and satisfying religion, and I was not disappointed. In two weeks from the time I heard of it our younger girl was healed, under very difficult circumstances, of a complaint from which she had suffered ever since she was a baby. A little later, in the same circumstances, our elder girl was healed of a poisoned throat, and a few months afterwards of a badly poisoned leg. I was healed in a few hours of a severe internal pain and fever. Before I heard of Christian Science I was once ill for two weeks with the same trouble, accompanied by high fever. I was then in India, and as there was no doctor where I was, the condition was not diagnosed. I have also had instantaneous healings of very bad headaches, colds, fever, and an ulcerated throat.
We lived in India for many years, and I suffered severely from effects of the climate. Although I came home to England from time to time I always returned to India very little better. I have often met friends whom I knew there, and they have all expressed astonishment at the change in me. This is, of course, entirely due to Christian Science, and I am more grateful than I can say.
I used to be very fond of a gay social life, but I have learned that happiness is not dependent on persons, but upon the thoughts and ideas of divine Mind. And I am grateful to have seen something of the truth of the words of the Psalmist, "In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
