"Peace, be still"

"Be still, and know that I am God"—a voice
Speaks tenderly and bids all tumult cease.
Its deep compassion heals, and we rejoice
That Love has led us into paths of peace.
But let us not forget, as we march on,
That other hearts are hungry for the same
Sustaining truth which we have fed upon,
And offer it to them in Jesus' name.
A kindly deed, a smile, can open doors
Long closed by pride, resentment, and self-will,
And we can lead our brother to those shores
Where he can hear Love's message, "Peace, be still."
