Lecturer: Gavin W. Allan; introduced by Reuben Pogson who said:—

When our Saviour, Christ Jesus, was about to leave this world, he comforted his disciples by saying, "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth." Then just prior to his struggle in Gethsemane he said to the Father, "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word." So the prayer of Christ Jesus was not to be confined in its beneficent fulfillment to his immediate disciples, but to all who believed on him through the Gospels.
