"Honour the Son"

In St. John's Gospel we read Jesus' statement, "The Father ... hath committed all judgment unto the Son: that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father." In his answer to the Jews, Jesus emphasized the fact of his divine origin and sonship.

We have, then, to "honour the Son." We must know our true self as the offspring of the only living and true God, the Father-Mother of the universe. It is our privilege to lay claim here and now, in all humility, to our glorious heritage. How shall we do this? There is but one way. Through having that Mind in us "which was also in Christ Jesus." His oneness with the Father gave him dominion over the whole earth. We must understand what Jesus meant when he said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

As we honor the Son we honor the Father also. Thereby we have healthier bodies, lead purer, freer lives, and express greater capacity in whatever rightful activities we engage. To the devout Christian Scientist, Jesus' prayer, "Glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee," has a very special significance for his guidance in all the affairs of his daily life. Christ Jesus, our great Example, prayed for that glory which he affirmed that he had with the Father "before the world was."
