Christian Science came to me through a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel which I found in a waste paper basket in the hospital in which I was nursing during the World War. At that time medicine had ceased to help me, though I desired to be healed so that I could be useful in the world. Four days before the Armistice was signed I had to resign because of ill-health, which caused me great depression. I read the Sentinel and rejoiced, because I knew that this was the truth for which I had been seeking.

I was divinely led to a Christian Science church in my town and found myself sitting beside a man whom I had nursed during the war, and who I knew had been sent home to die. I had seen this man thoroughly examined by the doctors and diagnosed as incurable, consequently it was a great surprise to me to see him looking entirely fit and well. I asked him what had happened, and he replied that Christian Science had healed him and had enabled him to be an active business man. This filled me with hope. He told me that it would do just as much for me, and advised me to go to the Christian Science Reading Room and borrow the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I did the following day. As I read it earnestly, together with my Bible, I saw that it was truly a "key" to the Scriptures, for it was revealing to me that truth about the Bible.

After a month's study I was healed of indigestion of many years' standing, and of many other physical troubles. I took off glasses which I had worn since childhood. I rejoiced in this healing, which came through the reading of the textbook. Continuing with the study, I witnessed many healings in my home, when the patients gave up their medicine and relied wholly upon God. Among the ailments healed were repture, erysipelas in two days' treatment, diabetes, tonsillitis, and hemorrhage.
