True Activity
[Original article in French]
Considered from the human and social point of view, activity, or employment, is certainly a very desirable thing, and governments are making numerous and repeated efforts to re-establish in their various countries normal economic activity. These efforts are not yet crowned with success, for the true solution of a wrong state of things, the causes of which lie in the mental realm, is found in improving the mental condition.
That the problem of employment remains unsolved shows that the human concept of activity is erroneous. In the midst of economic and social chaos, Christian Scientists are learning how to remain calm; to keep their thoughts stayed on spiritual reality. They are realizing today, as never before, the great privilege of knowing the truth and putting it into practice. And they feel a lively sense of gratitude towards the one who revealed to mankind this glorious truth—Mary Baker Eddy.
Thanks to the instructions contained in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," they see clearly that, through the apparently troublous times the world is experiencing, Truth is a strong shield present to protect them from the depressing mesmeric belief in lack of activity, of work, or of resources.
