Prepare to Conquer!
Spiritualization of human consciousness, gained through the study and application of Christian Science, is the means of righteous accomplishment. The nonspiritual is opposed to Principle. It does not contribute to harmony. We gain and maintain our God-given dominion through spiritual sense alone.
The lifework of Christ Jesus brought him into contact with evil in its most sordid and distressing forms. Nevertheless, because of his spirituality, these unreal conditions made no disturbing impression upon his thought. He not only maintained his own striking characteristic of spiritual independence in the midst of so-called evil environment, but exerted a purifying influence which conferred freedom upon others according to the measure of their spiritual receptivity.
Christ Jesus was divinely prepared to demonstrate that man has an actual relationship to God, and none at all with corruption. Explaining the instrumentality through which Jesus gained spiritual refreshment and maintained his mastery over evil, our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, states (p. 32), "Jesus prayed; he withdrew from the material senses to refresh his heart with brighter, with spiritual views." The power manifested by Jesus in overcoming error was directly due to his reflected goodness, his steadfast consciousness of the truth of being.
