Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Local Christian Scientists have been notified that our literature is available at the public and other libraries and have been requested to bring this fact to the attention of others, particularly in localities where there are no Christian Science Reading Rooms. Some liberarians requested more books on Christian Science to meet the demand, and a number wanted The Christian Science Monitor. Wherever this desire has been expressed an effort has been made to have the need supplied by the local church, but much still remains to be done, and the work will be continued without interruption.

Some interesting reports on our library work have been received. One stated that the librarian in a branch library, located in the Negro section of one of our cities, was found reading the Children's Page in the Monitor to an attentive group of Negro children. There high school was close by, and this librarian reported that she found the Monitor most helpful in assisting high school students with their school work. All of our Leader's works and the Christian Science Sentinel were in this branch library, and they were being used.

Another librarian said that copies of the Monitor were loaned after a certain period, just as the magazines are. Reports from educational institutions where there are no branches of The Mother Church included the information that one librarian, who is not a Christian Scientist, personally subscribes for the Monitor and places it in the library.
