When I was a child in school one of the teachers gave out "gems," as she termed them, for the pupils to learn, and one of them was the saying of Jesus, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I often pondered this, but not until taking up the study of Christian Science did I understand what he meant.

When our twin sons were born, blood poisoning was manifested, and the doctors in the hospital said I had just one chance in a thousand to live. But due to the consecrated work of a dear neighbor who was a student of Christian Science, I was set free from this bondage, and to the amazement of the doctors, was able soon to leave the hospital and care for my family. It was not until two years later that I took up the study of this Science, and although I could not seem to understand the textbook, I was healed of articular arthritis or rheumatism of the joints.

Through earnest study, the unfoldment is coming and the healings have been many. Our sons are now twenty and have been wonderfully protected, proving the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words, on page 369 of Science and Health, "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science." Financial losses, colds, headaches, biliousness, fevers, have all yielded to the truth, and one healing was instantaneous by realizing our freedom as stated in one of our hymns:
