Among the Churches

Current Notes

Syracuse Herald

Syracuse, New York (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, at East Jefferson Street and Forman Avenue, was dedicated Sunday morning, December 29, 1935.

An indebtedness on the church edifice, which with its furnishings and its organ cost approximately $250,000, has been discharged, it being the practice in Christian Science to dedicate no churches until they are free from debt.

As is customary, the dedication was simple. The First Reader read a message, dedicating the church to God and inviting all the members to rededicate their lives to His service. The dedication was followed by a brief history of the growth of Christian Science in Syracuse. This was the only change from the regular Sunday service, which is conducted in accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
