Gleaner
In his letter appearing in the Gleaner under the heading of "Christian Science," C.L.A." brings out a very important point, namely, that even though the teachings of Christian Science are in direct opposition to some of the most cherished beliefs of mankind, yet, in less than seventy years it has encircled the globe and numbers its adherents in the hundreds of thousands. This is outstanding proof that Christian Science is not a human theory, nor a human invention, but a discovery of spiritual, eternal truth.
We thank the writer also for his public acknowledgment of the fact that the application and practice of the teachings of Christian Science bring health and happiness to its followers.
Usually those who apply for membership in the Christian Science organization are desirous of assisting in its activities. In order that they may be free to do this to the fullest extent it is helpful to them to be free from other affiliations. This, we believe, is the usual method of procedure among all denominations. Christian Scientists do not quarrel with any man about his religion. So long as a man derives health and happiness from his religion, no true Christian would attempt to deprive him of that joy.
