A short time ago our baby girl was born, and when she was thirty hours old she had hemorrhages. The practitioner, who was present in the home, commenced work at once, but as soon as the practical nurse came in she called the doctor who was in charge at the time of birth. My husband was not a believer in Christian Science, so we did not object to having a doctor. On his arrival the doctor said that the baby could not lose any more blood and live, but the hemorrhages continued. When the doctor said he could do nothing more, as there was no pulse or heartbeat, he turned her over to the practitioner. The bleeding ceased immediately, and the baby became entirely normal. No sense of weakness or ill effects resulted. I had never felt such a beautiful sense of confidence and trust in God as I had during the entire experience. I realized that, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 151), "The blood, heart, lungs, brain, etc., have nothing to do with Life, God."
A few months later the same doctor saw the baby and said that he had never seen one grow so nicely. A medical nurse, who is a friend of the family, said that she had nursed a number of cases like this, but had never known one in which the baby had lived.
I am most grateful because this experience has shown my husband what God can do. Living as I have for years in a community in which my mother and I were practically alone in Christian Science, we have had many problems to solve through our own reliance on Truth. I am sincerely grateful for this Science, for its Leader, for membership in The Mother Church, and for the loving aid of practitioners.
