A Way of Escape

Among the many comforting statements in the Bible is one that Paul made in his epistle to the Corinthians. It reads, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

Here it will be noted that the way to escape is at hand the moment the temptation or need seems to be manifest. God, or good, is available and at hand at all times to meet each need as it arises. The absolute truth is that the need is actually met before it takes form in mortal thought, for God, in making abundant provision for all of His creatures, leaves no need unsupplied. Mrs. Eddy says (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 149, 150): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance."

Christian Science teaches us how to bring the knowledge of God's protection and care into relation with human needs, and shows the potency of spiritual thinking in the solution of the problems of mortal existence.
