The Christian Science Board of Directors

With the consent of the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy, we are happy to announce that excerpts from her letters are to be published regularly in the Christian Science periodicals. Brief gems of thought found in letters from the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science will begin to appear in the next issues of the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald. These truths, these friendly counsels, these practical precepts put into words by the Pastor Emeritus of The Mother Church for the assurance, the comfort, the guidance of certain individuals, will be made available to all readers. They will be copyrighted by the Trustees who hold her literary property rights.

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" always will contain the standard statement of Christian Science (Church Manual, Articles IV:1, XII:2, XIV:1, XXVI:6). This book and other books by Mrs. Eddy, with the Bible, always will include the full statement which is necessary to learning, practicing, and teaching this Science (Manual, Articles IV:1, VIII:9). Yet, in her unpublished letters there are other concrete applications, other particular uses, other expressional forms which furnish further illustrations and values. And now, to the extent allowed by propriety, these nuggets of pure gold are to be extracted from these letters on many subjects, and this is to be done chiefly for the benefit of Christian Scientists, but not to the exclusion of other readers.
