Overcoming Evil

Christian Science teaches that evil and evil beliefs have never had any connection with infinite Life, God. Jesus refers to the latent error whence the visible evidence of evil springs. He says, "Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts."

Mrs. Eddy showed the world that Jesus did not identify man with evil; that devil or evil, including all necromancy and its art, whether latent or visible, is impersonal, a false sense, which is destroyed by the application of spiritual truth. She proved clearly and logically that so-called evil with its art is without Principle.

What is Principle? On page 115 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" God is defined as "divine Principle, Life, Truth, Love, Soul, Spirit, Mind." God is Principle, Mind, Truth, the only real cause, including effect. Since evil has never been part of God, it has never had any connection with Principle. Thus evil never has had any real being.
