Observer

The statement that the teachings of Christian Science accord with the remarks made in an address, reported in your issue of the 1st inst., is very largely correct, but might be made more explicit, hence this letter.

The healing method of Christian Science follows that of Christ Jesus, and healing is accomplished by a realization and absolute acknowledgment of the ever-present and infinite power of God, Spirit, and the unreality of matter, all error, or any seeming condition opposed to His perfect spiritual creation, which, as stated in Genesis, He saw to be "very good," matter, sin, sickness, disease, and death not being made, but being illusions.

Most of the healings of Jesus were instantaneous, as were also very many of those of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, who writes on page 109 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health withKey to the Scriptures," "I knew the Principle of all harmonious Mind-action to be God, and that cures were produced in primitive Christian healing by holy, uplifting faith; but I must know the Science of this healing, and I won my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration."

It is this "holy, uplifting faith" in the all-power of Spirit, good, which instantaneously heals any form of disease, however severe. This faith is no individual prerogative, but has been shown forth by the prophets and others in all ages. All may come to the "open fount" of Christian healing, and Christian Science shows us the way by letter as well as spirit. Jesus left no written word explaining his method of healing. Mrs. Eddy has elucidated this exact Christ Science, which all may avail themselves of, for the blessing of themselves and others. As she further writes, on page 17 of the Manual of The Mother Church, this church is "designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing."
