The first healing that I experienced in Christian Science was of a chronic diphtheritic condition of the throat. One treatment only was given, and the following morning there was not a vestige of the trouble. This occurred more than twenty-five years ago, and there has been no return.

Several years later a difficulty appeared which argued for the services of a surgeon, but I was led to see that all is Mind and under the control of Mind, and that matter can make no laws for man. In about two months conditions became normal and there has been no further trouble. At one time I cut my hand very badly, and although it seemed to be doing well for a few days, my arm suddenly began to swell and to give me a great deal of pain. This was overcome, however, in a day or two by the declaration that there is no poison in God's creation. Chronic constipation and canker have also been healed; coughs and colds are practically things of the past; sick headaches, which used to last at least two days, are entirely lost sight of; and an attack of neuritis was overcome in less than a week's time.

The physical healings, while precious to my thought, seem insignificant in view of the great spiritual blessings that have come to me—a clearer, deeper understanding of the nature of God, my relationship to Him, how really to love, how to be of true service to my fellow man. The positive recognition and realization of no reality but ever-present good has ever been my first thought in meeting claims of sin, sickness, or sorrow, and many times I have seen the error vanish instantly in face of this mighty fact.
