When I was a child the question of how to be saved,...
When I was a child the question of how to be saved, troubled me greatly. When I asked the minister about it, I was told not to question the wisdom of God; and my mother would tell me to live the best I knew how. Nevertheless, I did not feel that I knew how, and as time passed and I grew into womanhood I still longed to know God.
During childhood I suffered much from ill health. Doctors said that my blood was too thin. I was subject to rheumatism, constipation, and various other diseases.
After the birth of my child, I remained an invalid. I had been through one operation and was preparing for another when a lady, who had heard about my illness, came to visit me. She had been healed of a goiter through Christian Science, and she talked to me about this Science. At the end of the conversation I remarked, "Whether I get well or not, this was the religion Jesus taught and practiced, and I want it." I was already convinced that this beautiful religion would bring peace to me.
